I had to make a hover menu that was full CSS, and i couldn't make it work in IE, because of the old issue of IE not supporting:hover for anything else but the a tag. So i modded some example i found on the internet that was using js for ie, attached through behaviours, in the css file. The url is this. Nov 14, 2012 - Icon links work fine in Firefox, but they don't work in Chrome 23. I'm seeing the same thing in Safari 6.0.2 on Mac on my own html. It's 'clickability' (it also doesn't cause a mouse pointer change or hover styles so the icon is not a link and not text as far as the browser knows). Background-image: none.
Perhaps someone can help. My site is like a shopping mall map (like going to a physical mall and looking at the directory) and I would like to change the opacity of a group of stores (class) based on hovering on the legend entry of the same class. Because you can search and filter the stores in various ways, the structure and order of the stores is fluid but I use class to color code the background images. The basic structure is below. I can have the legend as another div inside the mall if that helps but the question is: Can I hover over class ‘shoes’ in the legend and highlight ‘store1’ and ‘store4’ (and any other shoe stores) based on their class? (BTW, if you can do that I highly recommend writing up a separate blog entry – I’m sure lots of people would be interested.).

The Chrome and Safari hack targets Safari 5.1-6.0 and Chrome 10-24. Nothing else. The media query around it simply guarantees that it is ‘either Safari or Chrome’ so at least that part will remain accurate. At the time that hack was released, newer versions that could not work were not created yet. Newer versions of Safari and Chrome can be targeted and separated. I have been working on many more – check my blog or my test page for more: — I have been keeping it updated. For others, and different types of hacks, check out BrowserHacks.com as well – I have been providing hacks as well as testing for them.
